Sunday Preview – Studio Update

Hope everyone’s had a solid weekend and managed to squeeze in a bit of hobby time.

Games Workshop have just dropped their Sunday Preview, and it’s a big one if Chaos is your thing — with some really nice nods to The Old World and Horus Heresy fans as well.

This week’s highlights include four new Chaos Battleforce boxes (one for each Chaos God), the return of Old World Marauders, new Cataphractii Terminators and Breacher Squads for Horus Heresy (in Iron Hands, no less), and a handful of solid Black Library releases. There’s plenty here to spark ideas if you’ve been eyeing a new army or hobby project.

🎨 Around the Studio

Here at Clumsy Orc Studios, it’s been a good mix of paint, chat, and dice.

Academy Night – Leeds (Wednesday)

We had four games played and plenty of dice thrown — an absolute banger of an evening.

Finally, Mal’s Necrons clashed with Danneh’s Custodes in a proper elite-on-elite showdown

Sam Lomax fielded 25 Space Wolf Terminators against James and his dark Raven Guard, featuring a Brutalis Dreadnought that, by all accounts, put in some serious work.

Craig and I went next, with Craig bringing the full kunnin’ brutality of Orks in a Dread Mob while I tried my hand at Ynnari. Fantastic game, but wow… Ynnari really hurt my brain.

Tom’s green Ultramarines faced off against Jon’s Imperial Guard, and it definitely looked like the Ultras were applying heavy pressure throughout the game.

Community Project Showcase

These shots are a small selection of projects that members of our hobby community have been working on and sharing with us recently. From bold schemes and creative conversions to armies slowly coming together over a few evenings, it’s really inspiring to see the different directions people take their painting and building.

🖌️ On the Painting Table

Currently on the desk:

I’m working through a Hashut army commission, painted up in the Infernal Cohort colours we were sent over for the project. These guys are tiny — loads of detail packed into very small models — but they’re great fun once you settle into the rhythm. Really looking forward to getting stuck into the Minotaurs next; they should be a nice change of pace (and scale).

On a personal note, I’ve just finished building some Banshees, and over the weekend I had a good old chat to help settle on a colour scheme — excited to get paint on those soon.

As always, it’s a mix of personal projects and client work, with the kettle on far too often.

That’s it for this week. Lots of Chaos, lots of temptation, and plenty of inspiration for new projects (or excuses to finally start one).

If you fancy joining us for a hobby evening, or just want to talk through an idea you’ve been sitting on, drop us a message. Here!
